By the way, in my short amount of research, I'm seeing some of these portable devices now have battery life of over 20 hours. Point being, all batteries involved will outlast the battery life time of the metal detector. Pulling three fresh AAA batteries off the charger bay before every hunt is not even close to being an inconvenience, compared to that pesky cord.
